DESCRIPTION:Boosting air quality in and around America’s busiest freight hubs\nTerminal trucks\, also known as spotters\, yard dogs\, or goats\, are used to move trailers within cargo and intermodal facilities. Low-speed\, high-power operations in terminal truck settings emit far more exhaust than diesel trucks running at highway speeds – which not only threatens surrounding communities\, but is also a health risk for workers on site. The impact on driver satisfaction and lower fuel and maintenance costs make all-electric terminal trucks an attractive business proposition while improving the air quality for the entire region. \nJoin MEC on Tuesday\, September 3 at 12pm CT for a webinar with our project partners who have led the charge in deploying all-electric terminal trucks in the Kansas City region and beyond. We are partnering with the Rev It Up Hot Rod Show & Street Festival. \nThere will be many makes and models of electric vehicles (EVs) on display – Nissan\, Tesla\, Volkswagon\, Chevrolet\, and others. The public can talk with EV owners about the advantages of driving an EV. The electric vehicle showcase will also feature a variety of electric bicycles and electric scooters. A new addition this year will be large commercial electric vehicles including an electric bus from GreenPower Motor Company\, and an electric terminal truck from Orange EV. \nThis local event\, organized by the Sustainability Action Network\, is one of more than 189 community events being celebrated across the country during National Drive Electric Week\, from September 25 to October 3\, 2021. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a FREE workshop to learn more about biodiesel and how it works in today’s diesel engines.\nChanges in vehicles and fuels require changes in service\nVehicles\, equipment and fuels have changed significantly in recent years. Alternative fuels are becoming increasingly more available in the marketplace. National\, state and organizational goals to reduce vehicle emissions and increase use of domestic and renewable fuels have resulted in new pollution control equipment\, reduced sulfur levels in fuel\, and increased use of biodiesel. Mechanics and technicians in the vehicle and equipment industries need the most current information on fuel and vehicle changes and to better understand how biodiesel operates in today’s vehicles and equipment.\n\nThe goal of this workshop is to educate diesel mechanics\, automotive technicians and other automotive industry professionals with the most up-to-date knowledge on biodiesel\, allowing them to accurately diagnose fuel-related issues\, answer customer questions about fuel\, and provide recommendations about proper fuel handling and use best practices.\n\nThis workshop is targeted at fleet mechanics\, diesel technicians\, diesel technology students and others who work on diesel engines. Participants should have basic diesel engine experience.\n\nAfter completing a workshop\, participants will be able to:\n\n 	\n\n 	Describe and compare the characteristics of petroleum diesel and biodiesel\n 	Explain how the fuels work together to power vehicles and equipment\n 	Match biodiesel blends with compatible vehicles and equipment\n 	Accurately identify fuel-related issues\n 	Provide recommendations for preventing fuel-related issues through best management practices\n\n\n\nMEG Corp is an ASE-accredited Continuing Automotive Service Education (CASE) provider.
